4 Months Old

4 Months Old
13lb 6oz & 24in long
We continue to feel so blessed and impressed by the development of Rebel.  He is doing so well for being so early and is beginning to catch up to where he should be developmentally in some areas.  Besides Rebel being extremely adorable, some things that he is doing at this age include:
*Rolling onto his sides.  He doesn't roll over to his belly yet, but rolling all the way over to his side is a big improvement.
*He enjoys his bath time now and has started to splash and kick while in the water.
*He is getting better at balancing and holding his head and doesn't require as much support.
*He will sit in the Bumbo for short periods of time but tires easily.
*He squeals and coos more and it's so much fun to hear him "talk" to you.
*He still eats every 3 to 4 hours, including through the night but I enjoy our little bonding time we get at night when everybody else is asleep.

Big Cottonwood Half Marathon

A few of my friends decided they wanted to run the Big Cottonwood Half Marathon and invited me to join.  I was a little nervous to commit at first because I hadn't really ran since my last half which was last October and had just had Rebel.  I decided that I would do it but not be so worried about training.  I went into it knowing that if I had to walk I would and if my time was slower than last time, then that was ok.  I trained with my good friend Jodi and we would run a 2 or 3 miles a couple of times a week and then would try and do a longer one on the weekend.  There were a lot of times where we were walking and we never did run further than 8 miles, which we did the week before our half.  We left on Friday morning and had a fun day shopping and eating in Salt Lake.  We picked up our packets and bibs and then enjoyed more shopping and eating.  That night we didn't go to bed until late but I was never nervous because I was going in to this just for the fun!
The next morning we woke up early and had to catch the bus around 4:30am!  Super early!!  When we got up to the starting point, it was freezing cold and my nerves started to kick in! I was getting super excited and I could feel the adrenaline.  The gun sounded and we started running and I was loving every minute of it!  It's hard to explain the atmosphere but it is so much fun being with so many runners of different skill levels.  Jodi, Ashlee and I stayed with each other the whole time and Natalie kind of broke off from the group around mile 3.  The first 8 or 9 miles had at least a little bit of a decline to them for the most part and so we were able to cruise! The scenery was beautiful down the canyon and it made it that much more enjoyable! About mile 12 I remember thinking that there was no way I could keep running!  It was more of a mental block than physical but I just kept trying to focus in on my music.  It was around that 12th mile that we realized we were in front of the 2 hour pacers and realized there was a chance we may run it in under 2hrs!!  What?!  I was expecting to run it in 2hrs and 30 minutes or so!  We never ran fast enough miles in training to be able to do it even close to 2hrs.  That was motivation enough to just keep running!  We ended up running it in 1hr and 58 minutes!! I was in shock and so excited all at the same time!  What a fun and neat experience!  I doubt I will ever be able to run a half that fast again but I don't plan on it being my last race either!:)

Bear Lake

The first weekend in August, my family was able to meet up in Bear Lake and we were able to have everybody there.  My parent's were so kind and rented this beautiful cabin for all of us to stay in.  They pulled their boat down and so we were able to have a fun and enjoyable few days playing under the sun!  During the days, we were out on the boat or playing in the sand on the beach.  At night we were all hanging out together talking, playing games and watching movies.  I love the times when we are able to all get together.  Such great memories that I will always cherish.

One night we were had this ridiculously large pizza for dinner!  I had to turn the box sideways to go in and out of doors!:)  It was super yummy and a fun experience!  I think all but one piece was eaten!

On Sunday, we got ready and went to Sacrament meeting.  It was super busy that weekend in Bear Lake and so the chapel, gym, and several other rooms throughout the church were packed with people.  We found an empty classroom across from the back of the chapel and decided to claim it.  It was a little bit tight, and we couldn't hear much of what was said but we were able to partake of the Sacrament.

After we got back from church, we took some pictures so that we could have an updated one with all of us in it!  I think they turned out so cute.  Especially the ones of my parents with the grand boys!:) We had such a wonderful time and are so grateful to my parent's for making it possible!

The Fair

As per tradition, we were able to go to the Eastern Idaho State Fair again.  It seems like every year its the same things, but there is something about it that is so much fun!  This year we bought a few tickets for the boys to be able to ride a few carnival rides. (Which scared me to death because there is something about fair rides that get moved around from place to place that just freaks me out!)  They were able to go on a few of the little kid rides, but weren't tall enough to ride very many of them.  Teague wanted to ride one that Bronx couldn't go on so we let him ride it and then Bronx went on the boat ride one more time by himself.  Bronx loved it the first time he went on it when he rode with Teague, but not so much when he had to go by himself.  I walked him to his boat and helped him get in and he started to get a little bit teary eyed when I walked away.  He put his head down and started pouting and didn't look up the entire ride.  Even with Tyson yelling his name and trying to get his attention, his head remained down and the pouting continued until I went and got him out of his boat when the ride was over.  It was hilarious.  I think we all had a good day overall and we all probably ate a little too much fair food like usual.  At least this year we didn't all get sick in the night like we did last year!:)
